Kishoreganj, Feb 25 (UNB) – At least 30 people, including several cops, were injured as the activists of 12 Islamic and like-minded parties clashed with police in the district town on Monday afternoon.

Witnesses said the Islamic party activists tried to bring out a procession from Shaheedi Mosque in Puran thana area in protest against the denigration of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SM) at about 5 pm.

However, police who earlier took position in front of the mosque intercepted the Islamic party activists.

Being resisted, they pelted the law enforcers with brickbats, triggering a clash.

Later, police fired 20 rounds of rubber bullets and 50 rounds of teargas shells to disperse the agitating people.

They also arrested 20 people from the spot.
