Dhaka, Feb 25 (UNB) – Leaders of Ganajagaran Manch on Monday said the mass protest demanding the execution of war criminals, including Quader Mollah, will get stronger day by day despite all propaganda by various quarters working against the 1971 Liberation War spirit.

They also renewed their other demands, including a ban on Jamaat-Shibir and the arrest of the Amar Desh editor for instigating violence against the Shahbagh Protest.

Addressing a mass gathering at Mirpur Section 10 in the afternoon, they also renewed the call for boycotting all the financial institutions run by Jamaat-Shibir.

The rally at Mirpur began around 3:00pm as people from all walks of life thronged the Mirpur 10 intersection and the adjoining roads to raise their voice in solidarity with the demands.

In his speech, Bloggers and Online Activists Network (BOAN) convenor Imran H Khan slammed Mahmudur Rahman for spreading venom of communalism against the movement demanding justice on crimes against humanity.

He also criticised the government for failing to arrest ‘neo-Razakar’ Mahmudur within the time given by the Shahbagh protesters.

Imran declared a march towards the Home Ministry from the Shahbagh intersection, now renamed Prajanma Chattar, at 4:00pm tomorrow to press home the demands.

“There’s no way to return home until the demands we are fighting for are met. I remind the government – all war criminals must be given the capital punishment, Jamaat-Shibir must be banned,” he said.

At the end of his speech, Imran administered an oath taken by the thousands not to leave the struggle until the demands are met.

Islamic scholar Mawlana Mufti Mahbubur Rahman in his solidarity speech at the rally demanded laws to ban Jamaat-e-Islami. “Jamaat is a satan  (devil) in the guise of Islam… no Olama-Mashaek (Islamic scholars) can support Jamaat,” he said.

On February 5, the protestors took position at Shahbagh demanding capital punishment of all war criminals after the International Crimes Tribunal sentenced Jamaat leader Quader Mollah to life term in jail on war crimes charges, which they found inadequate.
