AppId is over the quota
Dhaka, Feb 25 (UNB) – Bangladesh Jatiya Party secretary general Shamim Al Mamun died on Monday. He was 65.
Mamun, who had long been suffering from heart ailment, breathed his last in the city’s Popular Hospital in the afternoon.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia expressed profound shock at his death.
In a condolence message, Khaleda, also the leader of the opposition in Parliament, said Mamun was a devoted politician of the country.
“He was an uncompromising leader who had struggled to protect multiparty democracy and ensure freedom of expression and people’s basic rights,” she said.
Khaleda prayed for salvation of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to his bereaved family members.
BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Labour Party president Dr Mustafizur Rahman Iran also condoled Mamun’s death.
