Dhaka, Feb 20 (UNB) – Awami League general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam on Wednesday said opposition leader Khaleda Zia went to Singapore in the name of treatment to hatch conspiracies to go to power.
“She’ll have a meeting with the representatives with a powerful country for discussing the way to go to power,” he said.
He was addressing a discussion at Osmani Memorial Auditorium organised by Awami League marking the Amar Ekushey and the International Mother Language Day.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was the chief guest at the discussion.
Ashraf, also the LGRD and Cooperatives Minister, said Khaleda Zia went to Singapore in the name of treatment. “There’ll be also some doctors, but the main agenda is to meet the representatives of a strong country to hatch conspiracies to come to power.”
He also said Khaleda Zia will go to the UK from Singapore to hold another meeting with people from another country for the same purpose. “I have the proof… I’ll give the details with documents after she arrived in the country,” he said.
Ashraf also alleged that BNP had never been in power without conspiracy and killing.
BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia left for Singapore on Tuesday night for medical treatment of her knee, throat and tooth complications.
A regular flight of Singapore Airlines carrying Khaleda took off Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 10:30 pm.
The BNP chief is expected to stay in Singapore for a week for the treatment. Khaleda’s family members and two personal staff are accompanying her.
