Chittagong, Feb 25 (UNB) – Leaders of Hefazat-e-Islam on Monday gave the government three days to stop the Shahbagh movement.

They also demanded punishment of the ‘atheist bloggers’, threatening to arrange a long march towards Parliament if they are not brought to book.

The Islamic party leaders demanded the release of their party men by February 28, saying they would hold mass rallies in all the upazila headquarters after Juma prayers on March 1 if otherwise.

The ultimatum came from a rally held at Parbati High School ground in Hathazari upazila in the afternoon.

The speakers said their movement is not against the country but the atheists.

Saying the Hefazat-e-Islam activists do not want to take the law in their own hands, they warned that Touhidi janata would not spare the atheists if the government does not punish them.

The speakers also demanded resignation of Home Minister Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir as they said at least 19 activists of Islamic parties were killed by police on his order.

President of Olama Parishad Shamsul Alam, General Secretary of Hefazat-e-Islam Jonayed Babu Nagari, Shah Mohibullah Babu Nagari, Nezam-e-Islam Party leader Ezharul Islam Chowdhury and Maulana Abdul Malek Halim, among others, addressed the rally.
