Bagerhat, Feb 1 (UNB) – A bridal party member was killed and 12 others were injured in a bus accident on Khulna-Mawa highway at Nauapara area in Fakirhat upazila on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Sagar Saha, 30, son of Mukunda Nath Saha of Kalibari area in Khulna district.
Officer-in-charge of Fakirhat thana Masudul Alam said the speeding bus, carrying 40 bridal party members, suddenly turned turtle after hitting a traffic island and fell into a roadside ditch as its driver lost control over the steering at an intersection in the area in the morning, leaving Sagar dead on the spot and 12 others injured.
The injured, were admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital and different other clinics.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
A case was filed with thana in this connection.
